Over 200 members of the Society and others gathered at the RIBA lecture theatre in Portland Place to hear Cllr Georgia Gould, Leader of Camden Council and chair of London Councils, deliver this year’s Banister Fletcher Lecture.

“We can be a world leader in the three pillars of collaborative governance, democratic renewal and civic imagination solving problems at scale while iterating with our communities.

We can imagine and create a city that is growing without deepening inequalities but using the mix of our communities to strengthen social solidarity and our social safety net.

We can be the first net zero city, the first city to see a true social guarantee, the most cohesive diverse city in the world.

I feel deeply excited about what we can achieve together over the next seven years. We don’t need to wait for national change ‚ we have the imagination, expertise and collective power to make huge strides together. I look forward to working with The London Society, the people in this room and many more to get us there.”
