Join Sebastian Ricard, WilkinsonEyre for this exclusive ‘Behind the Scenes’ tour of London’s newest neighbourhood.
The opening of Battersea Power Station in October 2022 represents the culmination of 10 years’ intensive work to restore this internationally acclaimed landmark from dereliction. Opening for the first ever time to the public, these triumphant former industrial spaces have been sensitively restored and adapted to new uses while conserving the best of their period features, preserving their historical significance.

The centre of a new neighbourhood for London, Battersea Power Station is a true mixed use scheme of astonishing complexity. The enormous volumes that formerly housed the generators of a fifth of the city’s electricity now accommodate office, retail, residential, event and leisure uses within the massive brick walls. The roof spaces are adapted as verdant gardens for residents and employees, and the surrounding area has been reinvented as a new park and public space for Londoners to visit, shop and spend time. The scheme, delivered through long term investment, has paid for a new Tube connection that promotes sustainable transport to the area, while an onsite energy centre provides low-impact heat and light to the development. The architectural design of the whole restoration has been undertaken by WilkinsonEyre.
