Two years ago the £860k extension and refurbishment of Surrey Docks Farm was completed, giving a new lease of life to buildings that had lain derelict for 10 years following an arson attack, and to the charity that runs the farm, providing a community hub which educates people about food growing, responsible farming and the environment.
The new design, which included the reinstatement of a two-storey tower and a new Thames frontage, was by PUP Architects and won three prizes: the Mayor’s New London Award, the Galvanisers Association architecture award and the Architects’ Journal’s retrofit award for cultural building schemes costing less than £5m.
This tour will be led by PUP directors Chloe Leen and Theo Molloy, who will explain the ideas behind the project, how sustainability was embedded in it, and how it relates to the wider development of the area.
