Join The London Society for an exclusive member-only evening with Howells at their new London studio in Angel, exploring how some of the capital’s most ambitious regeneration projects are reshaping neighbourhoods and creating new connections across the city.
Under the theme Reimagining London, the Howells team will share a selection of projects that demonstrate the practice’s approach to city-making, with a particular focus on the transformation of East London. From London City Island and Royal Wharf, Howells have established new residential neighbourhoods along the River Lea and Thames, to Eden Dock at Canary Wharf, where a former dock has been transformed into a biodiverse public space.
The evening will explore ideas behind these projects and the wider questions they raise: How can major development reconnect communities with their waterfronts? How can new neighbourhoods establish a strong sense of identity and belonging? And how should the regeneration of London respond to changing expectations around nature, public space and city living?
It will also provide an opportunity to hear about Howells’ wider work across London and beyond the city, and to meet members of the team working on projects at a range of scales, from individual buildings to large-scale urban regeneration.
The talk will be followed by drinks and an opportunity to explore the studio and architectural models.
