HTA Design is a practice of around 250 architects, urban designers and sustainability specialists committed to creating better homes and more sustainable places to live. Recognised for its expertise across every form and tenure of housing, the practice has delivered some of the largest and most complex residential projects of recent years.
From pioneering work in volumetric modular construction to leading net zero design strategies, HTA has consistently pushed innovation in how homes are designed and delivered. At a time when London urgently needs more housing and higher quality neighbourhoods, their work speaks directly to the civic challenge of building at scale without compromising design, sustainability or liveability.
The practice’s roots lie in the Community Architecture Movement, championing the voices of local residents in shaping development proposals. That people-first approach remains central to its culture today, reinforcing the idea that good housing is not just about units and density, but about wellbeing, resilience and everyday experience.
This visit will offer members an introduction to HTA’s work, values and current projects, exploring how housing design can respond to climate targets, changing patterns of living and the practical realities of delivery.
We will discuss how modular construction, net zero strategies and community engagement come together in real schemes, and reflect on what “good” looks like in contemporary housing. There will be time for conversation and questions, offering an opportunity to connect professional insight with wider civic debate about London’s future homes and neighbourhoods.
