We are delighted to invite The London Society members to an exclusive opportunity to visit the studio of and meet the team behind Chris Dyson Architects, a practice deeply rooted in the architectural and cultural fabric of Spitalfields.
Founded in 2004 by Chris Dyson, the practice has built a strong reputation for intelligent conservation, inventive new buildings and close collaboration with artists. Chris has lived and worked in the area for over 30 years, and many of the studio’s early and ongoing projects are located within the historic streets of East London.
Past work includes the Crystal Palace Park café, the Sekforde pub, Harrow Arts Centre’s Greenhill Building, the Gasworks writing retreat for Jeanette Winterson, and a number of sensitive conservation and residential schemes across London and beyond. Current projects include elements of the Bishopsgate Goodsyard redevelopment, proposals for the Truman Brewery’s historic boiler house, the transformation of Tracey Emin’s former East End studio, and new hotel and residential projects in London and Scotland.
This event offers members the chance to visit the practice’s studio, based in a renovated Spitalfields pub and run as an atelier that encourages experimentation, craft and collaboration. Chris Dyson and Jon Moxon will present a selection of recent built work alongside projects currently on the boards, offering insight into the practice’s design approach, studio culture and future direction.
Join us at their studio for a lively session where you will learn more about the practice’s work, from conservation and reuse to new architecture, and have the opportunity for discussion with the architects themselves.
