The ‘urinary leash’ was something that plagued women in the 19th century but now London is once again facing a growing crisis that affects residents and visitors alike – the lack of accessible public toilets. With few facilities available and many being closed or neglected, this problem disproportionately impacts the elderly, disabled, families with young children, and those with health conditions. It also undermines London’s reputation as a welcoming, inclusive city.

The London Society is hosting a forum dedicated to addressing this pressing issue. Join a panel of experts from architecture, urban planning, public health, local government, and advocacy groups as they explore creative and practical solutions that could be implemented in the long and short term. From innovative design approaches to funding models and policy recommendations, our speakers will offer diverse perspectives on how we can make London a more accessible and comfortable city for all. Audience participation will be a key part of the event, with plenty of opportunities for questions and open discussion. We encourage attendees to share their thoughts, ideas, and experiences as we collectively seek ways to tackle this challenge.
