The Brompton Folding Bike is not only an iconic piece of British design it is also manufactured in London.
Andrew Ritchie, who in 1975, created prototypes of the bikes in his bedroom in South Kensington (close to Brompton oratory, thus the name) will talk about the design, how the business eventually got off the ground, and how the Company’s grew to a size where it is producing 44,000 of the handmade bikes every year. The Duke of Edinburgh opened the company’s new factory in Greenford in November last year.
