Join pub historian Geoff Brandwood for a tour of three very different pubs, all of which retain interiors of interest. Geoff is from the Campaign for Real Ale’s Pub Heritage Group which, for many years, has been identifying, recording and campaigning for such interiors.
We start at Elgin, Ladbroke Grove, which has some fine features from the golden again of pub-building around 1900 and a sense of its Victorian layout. Then on to the Earl of Lonsdale, Westbourne Grove, which has undergone a remarkable reVictorianisation by owners Samuel Smith’s Brewery of Tadcaster. We end at the Cock & Bottle, Notting Hill which has some fittings of much ornateness and parts of its original layout. Food is available at the first and last pubs.
Copies of Geoff Brandwood’s new book featuring nationally important pub interiors will be available to buy. With 320pp and nearly 700 top-quality illustrations, it is great value at just £9.99.
