From stadium hinterland to one of the UK’s largest regeneration stories, join us for a guided tour of Wembley Park with Quintain and explore how a new neighbourhood has taken shape around housing, landscape and everyday life.
Wembley Park has changed dramatically over the past two decades. Once dominated by surface car parks and event crowds heading to the stadium, it is now a mixed neighbourhood of homes, streets, public spaces and cultural activity.
Hosted by Quintain, the developer behind the long term masterplan, this visit will begin with an introduction around the site model in the showroom. We will trace the history of the site, understand the vision for the area and examine how successive phases have been delivered, including what comes next.
For The London Society, this is an opportunity to look closely at large scale regeneration in practice. How are new homes delivered at pace while building a sense of place? How do event days sit alongside daily life? And what does quality look like at neighbourhood scale?
We will begin in the showroom with an introduction around the site model, setting out the history of Wembley Park and the evolution of Quintain’s long term masterplan. You will hear how the different phases have been structured and delivered, what is still to come, and how a mix of residential tenure types, including build to rent, contributes to the area’s housing offer. We will also explore how the neighbourhood functions on major event days, and how design, management and governance respond to the pressures created by Wembley Stadium.
From there, we will head out on a guided walking tour of the estate to experience the public realm first hand. Along the way we will look at the landscaping strategy, including the distinct tree planting along Wembley Way, and discuss community and civic engagement across the development. The visit will conclude with access to one of Quintain’s latest build to rent buildings, where we will view apartments and shared amenity spaces and consider what everyday life looks.
Throughout, there will be space for questions and discussion about governance, community engagement and the practical realities of building and maintaining a new London neighbourhood at scale.
