Discover the Thames at night with this guided walk from The London Society and Satu Streatfield, associate director of Night time and Lighting at urban design practice Publica.
Taking you along the river, looking at how darkness and lighting affect the way we see and experience the riverside, we shall explore the variety of after-dark environments that have evolved in this central stretch of the Thames, and examine the way in which light ‘edits’ our views of the city after nightfall. The tour examines the role of the river in the history of London’s nightlife and looks at its future potential in London at night.
This will be a fascinating guided walk for anyone interested in the public spaces along central London’s riverside and how they are changed after dark.
Satu leads Publica’s work in research, planning and design for the urban night, ensuring that evening, night-time, and after-dark research, strategies and designs are integrated into the practice’s projects from the outset.
