Will recovery from lockdown herald a resurgence of local neighbourhoods at the expense of the centre?
Patterns of working, shopping and eating out, have changed in the past months, with local high streets reporting some recovery, but with central areas still seeing footfall that is a fraction of pre-pandemic levels. What are local areas doing to bring customers back? And will this herald a long-term change to the capital with fewer people travelling to major retail hubs and more using online and neighbourhood centres?
In this London Society panel discussion, Erica Belcher will present the latest economic data from Centre for London showing how the recovery is progressing. Nicola Grant from Positively Putney and Deborah Efemini from Team Catford will share information about local initiatives, what’s proving to be successful, and their thoughts on what the longer term consequences might be, and Paul O’Grady, the Location Director for Belgravia from Grosvenor will discuss what they are trying to do to bring customers back into the centre.
