Introducing Future London — a new series of public discussions from The London Society, delivered in partnership with the Knowledge Quarter, running throughout Spring 2026.
Future London cuts through the hype to explore how emerging technologies are already reshaping everyday life in the capital. From housing and planning to transport, sustainability, health and culture, the series focuses on the real-world impacts Londoners are experiencing now — not speculative futures.
Our partner, the Knowledge Quarter, is based in the heart of central London around King’s Cross, the Euston Road and Bloomsbury. It represents one of the greatest concentrations of knowledge anywhere in the world. Within a remarkably small area sit libraries and archives holding some of the world’s earliest manuscripts, alongside universities, cultural institutions, life-science research centres, creative industries and emerging technology organisations. Together, they form a living ecosystem where ideas move rapidly from research to real-world application.
As a civic society and charity, The London Society exists to make complex issues clear, relatable and actionable. Through Future London, we connect this extraordinary knowledge base with everyday experience — examining how technology is already being deployed on the ground, and what that means for the way London grows, moves and works.
Through open discussion and respectful debate, the series brings together people from all backgrounds to interrogate the opportunities, trade-offs and consequences of change in a city as complex as London.
Rather than promising utopia or predicting dystopia, Future London creates a trusted, partner-powered space that puts ordinary Londoners at the heart of the city’s next great transformation — helping people understand what’s happening now, question what’s coming next, and shape what good looks like for London’s future.
