We’re delighted to announce that the 2019 Banister Fletcher Lecture will be given by Jude Kelly CBE, former Artistic Director of the Southbank Centre and Founder of WOW – Women of the World Festival.

Her talk is entitled “EXCELLENCE AND EGALITARIANISM SHOULD BE INSEPARABLE TWINS”. Art and culture is the universal method of making and changing narratives for individuals, communities and geographies and can transform negative perceptions.

From founding Battersea Arts Centre in 1980, to creating the cultural and educational plans for the 2012 Olympic Bid to being the Artistic Director of the Southbank Centre, Jude Kelly has maintained her belief in using creative activism and the tools of theatre as a method of building audiences, programmes and physically welcoming environments that strengthen community cohesion and contribute to happiness and courage.

This year’s lecture will be on 31 October in St Marylebone Parish Church, NW1. Tickets are free to members, and ÂŁ7.50 for guests and non-members. There will be a drinks reception to follow the talk.
