When I was asked to take on the role of Chair of The London Society, I jumped at the chance because I love London ‚ my home for the last 26 years. It is fascinating and often exasperating to see how ‘stuff gets built’ in London and I have been fortunate enough to transition from being an interested ‘layperson’ to having a career focused on the processes and people that shape London and our cities.

The London Society has a wonderful history and I believe has an even greater role to play in the future of London. I am looking forward to working with the trustees to give you even greater access to the people, places and debates that shape our city.

We have much to do and to do it well, we need more resources. We will be working hard to secure more sponsorship and other income streams so that we can expand the programme.

We would also like to grow our membership base so that we give all Londoners an opportunity to benefit from the work of The London Society.

If I have one favour to ask today is that you encourage your friends to join or even better, to gift a membership.

Thank you for electing me the Chair of this wonderful society and I am looking forward to meet you all soon.
