We’re pleased to introduce Kathryn Firth, one of the newest trustees of The London Society.
Having chosen to make London her home 28 years ago, Kathryn brings a deep personal commitment to the city and its future. Her outlook closely aligns with the Society’s focus on London’s past, present and future, and with the belief that while London is a remarkable global city, it is not without its challenges.
Kathryn values The London Society as a place where critical dialogue and debate can happen openly and constructively, with a clear purpose: working towards practical solutions. She particularly welcomes the Society’s commitment to ensuring these conversations extend beyond built environment professionals, engaging Londoners from different disciplines, generations and backgrounds.
She is also a strong advocate for the Society’s varied and lively programme of activities — recognising that to attract Londoners into shaping their city, participation needs to be accessible, stimulating and relevant. A mix of events, formats and voices keeps the programme fresh and helps bring new people into the conversation.
At the heart of Kathryn’s motivation is a belief in the importance of rediscovering the civic. She greatly values the fact that The London Society was born out of civic duty and pride, and continues to be recognised as one of London’s most influential civic charities. At a time of widening social and economic divides, Kathryn believes the Society has a vital role to play in inspiring people to act locally, helping to create positive change that ultimately strengthens London as a whole.
