London has revealed itself as an international cultural capital once again, with the new World Record of Most Museums Visited in 24 Hours. This feat was achieved by Ben Melham, who managed to visit an unprecedented 42 museums in and around central London, smashing the previous record of 33 museums visited in a single day – shining a light on the diversity, accessibility, and importance of museums in the UK capital.

The record was documented meticulously and each museum was promoted via Instagram (@collectingmuseums), LinkedIn, and other cultural sector networks. Each museum was featured in a dedicated social media post, providing visibility to their unique collections and inspiring engagement with audiences worldwide.

Ben's journey, completed on foot and kick scooter in London, was closely monitored by a team of volunteers and adhered to the stringent criteria set by Guinness World Records. Each museum visit was verified by museum staff, supported by GPS tracking and photographic evidence.

The previous World Record was 33 museums in 24 hours set in Delhi, India in January 2024. The London attempt was met with widespread enthusiasm from participating institutions. The event highlighted the unique character and offerings of each museum, creating new opportunities to engage audiences both locally and internationally.
