The winners in the second London Society 'Love Letters to London' writing competition were announced yesterday at an event at the historic Christopher Wren Temple Bar yesterday.

This year’s competition had even more entries than our inaugural event. Stories, poems and reminiscences came in from all over London, and from all over the world (literally; there were entries from every continent except Antarctica). They came from people who had spent their entire lives in the capital, and from those who had never set foot here, they came from primary school children and from those in their 80s. They celebrated people, places, food, culture, nightlife, open spaces, buildings, the underground and more.

Congratulations to the winners. You will be able to read some of the entries here over the next few weeks, but if you can order our printed booklet of all of the below entries here on our online store (there's also a downloadable PDF version).

If you want to find out about this year's competition (likely to be this autumn), sign up here and we shall send you more news when our plans have been firmed up.

Our thanks to sponsors Almacantar, footwork and Stiff+Trevillion, and to the Temple Bar Trust.
